When I started my journey into the world of nutrition and discovered that food can heal, repair and salvage the mind, body and soul, I wanted to change the world. I wanted to influence all those near and dear to me; and that passion and my belief has not faltered.

We live in a modern world in which almost everyone is on one diet or another, people count calories, carbs, protein, fats; we dwell on lists of good and bad fats. Each day we are hit with new discoveries, claims that certain foods can burn fat, the discovery of ‘superfoods’ and the best new way to lose weight… no wonder diet books are a million dollar business. This is very overwhelming and confusing for all of us – who do we believe?
The world of nutrition has become incredibly complex – scientists unanimously agree on the speed of light; yet one expert can prove dairy is a necessary component of a healthy diet, while another proves that dairy is detrimental to health. Celebrity chefs are preaching to us the best way to eat, celebrities are writing cookbooks – who do we believe? And where do we start!!!
First and foremost I believe the bio diversity mantra that no one diet or lifestyle is right for everyone – ‘one man’s food is another man’s poison’. It all comes down to what is right for you and your body; what nourishes, feeds and heals your primary foods.
During our six month coaching program we will work together to find a way of eating that suits your body and enriches your lifestyle.
We all agree that we need a variety in our diets, yet we cannot agree on how much water to drink, or whether or not organic food has more nutritional value than non-organic. Diet books tell you what to eat and even when to eat it, but will not take into consideration age, constitution, gender, size or lifestyle.
Each person has very specific nutrition needs for his or her own health. One of the main concepts of the Enrich Coaching methodology is recognising your bio-individuality. The food that is perfect for your unique body, age and lifestyle may make another person gain weight and feel lethargic.
You may notice that you eat different foods on days when you are active than on days you are relaxing. Foods that you loved and ate as a child may not agree with you as an adult. Winter cravings are completely different to what you crave in summer.
Being healthy is really not that complicated, the body knows what to eat – it is the brain that makes the mistakes. You may try a diet that sounded great, that was recommended by a family member or friend and worked wonders for them, it looked healthy but, after a week of eating that way you started to feel bloated, lethargic and weak! You don’t need a book to tell you what to eat – instead, foster a deeper relationship with your body in which it naturally tells you what it needs to function.
Cravings are one way our bodies communicate what they needs. The majority of people believe that cravings are a problem – but let’s look at this in a different way. Once you accept that your body is reliable and never makes a mistake, it is much easier to conclude that cravings are critical pieces of information that help you understand what your body needs.
By working with me to understand the body’s messages we will understand why you are craving the food you want. We will work towards crowding out these cravings with the help and guidance of your body, as we work together.
